Karen was delighted to be invited to officially open the new floodlights at Leek Rugby Club on Saturday. Debbie Jevans CBE, Chief Executive of the Rugby World Cup 2015, also unveiled a plaque to mark formally use of the new match pitch drainage - and the latter was certainly well used on the afternoon!
Karen said:
"Debbie and I had the warmest of welcomes from the club and it was a really enjoyable afternoon. It was great to see that Leek are benefiting from the new facilities. Both projects have been supported by Lottery funding from Sport England and I know they are already helping Leek to keep playing and training.
"The club also has great plans for an extension to the club house and they are going to need them to accomodate all the new juniors joining the club. But I'm not surprised to hear about that success - judging by the atmosphere at the club there will be more and more people wanting to get involved.
"Thanks to everyone at the club for a great afternoon - made all the better for seeing an exciting home win over Whitchurch!"
