Karen was in Werrington on Saturday to formally open the new Library and Wellbeing Centre. She said:
“Since the Werrington Community Volunteers Group were chosen to operate the Werrington Library as a Wellbeing Community Centre, these dedicated volunteers have worked so hard to get things ready. I was absolutely delighted to open the new centre formally on Saturday. It's not often that an MP gets to unveil a plaque but it's always exciting to do so because it recognises all that from the volunteers.
“Not only does the Centre offers an excellent library, but all sorts of facilities and events for residents, particularly for older people but also for mums with babies and a drop-in Co-Op café.
"It's amazing to think that only two years ago the continued existence of the library was under threat. Through innovative thinking – and a good deal of dogged determination! – the people of Werrington, have succeeded in turning a potentially disappointing situation on its head. Congratulations to everyone involved".
