Karen Bradley MP visited Springfield Special School in Leek recently for their Christmas party. Springfield is one of two Moorlands schools which have this year completed a successful collaboration. Under the joint headship of Ruth Zimmerman, Springfield and Horton Lodge Special School, Rudyard, have worked together to offer a very successful educational experience for their pupils and to provide a primary school service which is highly respected in the county. The two schools are currently in a consultation period with a view to future federation. Mrs Zimmerman said “The collaboration between Springfield and Horton Lodge Special Schools has been very successful – we are now looking at ways of strengthening this arrangement to ensure we can continue to provide the best specialist support required for the pupils in the schools and for our partner mainstream schools in Leek Moorlands.” Karen said “I was delighted to join the pupils for their Christmas lunch which they were clearly very much enjoying. The staff have created a great atmosphere and achieved some splendid results, they are doing a fantastic job. I am sure the proposed Federation will bring even greater benefits.
