Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley was pleased to join representatives from Parent Zone and Google to provide a welcome message for the livestream assembly they delivered on Be Internet Legends - the programme designed to help children from all over the UK learn about online safety.
Be Internet Legends is aimed at Key Stage 2 children, consists of a free PSHE Association accredited curriculum pack, a new teaching module on Digital Wellbeing, nationwide teacher training workshops, local professional roundtables, engaging family activities specifically aimed at parents and a fun interactive assembly for primary schools.
The programme teaches children five key pillars to remember whilst being online; to be sharp, alert, secure, kind and brave.
Karen commented:
“We are all following national restrictions at the moment, and though of course, this means that I am unable to do physical visits to schools, I was pleased to be invited to take part in this virtual assembly at Werrington Primary School.
“With the current restrictions and children using the internet more and more, it is vital for children to learn all about online safety. It may be that a friend or someone they know is not being nice online or someone is trying to get them to do something they don’t want to do or they are worried or anxious about something and don’t know what to do.
“It is so important that they are aware, not only of the fantastic benefits of internet to learn and explore but also how to stay safe online and I thank Parent Zone and Google for organising this fantastic assembly for the children at Werrington Primary.”
