Karen Bradley MP joined the Leek College celebrations at All Saints Church in Leek on Friday as students received their awards for this year's studies. Over 100 students collected their certificates and prizes for achievements in subjects ranging from engineering to early years care.
Professor Christine King, Vice Chancellor of Staffordshire University, was the guest of honour and awarded the prizes to the proud students. She spoke inspiringly of the students' success and encouraged them to strive to contribute in all areas of life not just in their academic or practical studies.
Karen said:
"It was great to be part of such a fantastic evening of celebration. The students really deserve the praise they have received. You just have to look at their faces to see how happy they are and they are right to be proud.
"I'm so pleased for Leek College as well. The event also shows off the wide range of subjects the college excells at in great style. It's a particular pleasure to be here since John Hayes, who's the Minister for Further Education, Skills and Life Long-Learning, announced recently that the college will get an extra £225,000 of funding this year.
"I know they'll put that to good use for our students in the Moorlands".
