Karen Bradley was elected last week by her fellow MPs as a member of the Work and Pensions Select Committee. Karen will sit on the cross-party group of MPs that will scrutinise and analyse the work of the Department of Work and Pensions and investigate related policy areas.
Karen said:
“It is truly a privilege to be asked to serve on the Work and Pensions Select Committee. It’s going to be particularly important in this Parliament. The Committee will be working in areas that are real priorities for the Government. So much of the work that the Government is doing on welfare reform, pension provision and promoting work is going to result in vital changes in the next few years. We have to address the worrying state of pension provision in our country and getting people back to work will be vital to help our economy recover. The Committee will be examining policy and testing the Government as well as others agencies and companies.
“It’s an honour to be voted for by my fellow MPs especially so soon after becoming an MP. I recognise the real responsibility I’ve been given.”
