Karen appeared alongside local businessmen on the Sam Plank show on Moorlands Radio on Thursday to discuss the Budget and its effect on people in the Moorlands. During the hour long feature, the panel debated who from the Moorlands is better off from the Budget and who that many local people are worse off.As a tax expert, Karen was able to explain the technical points as well as set out how the Conservatives would do things differently to tackle the economic crisis more effectively. Karen said: "I really enjoyed having the chance to discuss these issues on Moorlands Radio. The Budget won't benefit many people in the Moorlands - the few giveaways are not targeted at us - but plenty will be worse off. With no increase in tax free allowances, but rises in duty on alcohol, cigarettes and petrol - albeit more slowly than originally thought - and the 1% tax on jobs that Alistair Darling wants to charge from next year, people in the Moorlands will see that their pay packet doesn't go as far as it did before the Budget. "Moorlands Radio is a fantastic local amenity, which is getting a really good profile locally. I've had some great feedback from listeners and hope to have many more chances to be on the radio." Moorlands Radio is broadcast on FM 103.7. A link to their website is on the bottom right of this page.
