Karen joined the other two main candidates in the general election at Leek College on Friday as an audience of over 100 interested students put questions on a range of issues from education to MPs expenses.
The students swapped their studies for an hour of debate this morning to quiz the candidates.
Karen said:
"I knew the students would ask some searching questions of us and they did. I think it was the liveliest hustings we've done and I really enjoyed it - I think the students did too.
"There was a real variety of questions. We had funding for education and opportunities for young people as well as employment issues. But also a good discussion about political reform. Some of the students were very interested in care for the elderly and were clearly concerned for their grandparents.
"I could explain the simple policy that the Conservatives have adopted that would see everyone taking out an insurance policy at age 65. That policy would pay for the care for the one-in-five people who need it in when they are older."
