Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley spoke during Business Questions to the Leader of the House of Commons earlier today about the role of charities in Staffordshire Moorlands.
Karen works with many of the fantastic charities in the constituency and is organising a Charities Training Session in Werrington on 31st January together with the Charities Aid Foundation.
Speaking in the Chamber, Karen said,
“I am sure that my Rt. Honourable Friend values the work of local charities in his constituency as I do in mine, but they often struggle to succeed, and that is why next week I have organised a training session with the Charities Aid Foundation for those local charities. Could the Leader of the House find time for a debate in Government time, on the role of local charities in all of our constituencies.”
The Leader of the House, the Rt Hon. Jacob Rees-Mogg replied,
“Well thank you Mr Speaker, and may I commend my Rt. Honourable Friend for the work she does. This is absolutely the sort of thing that we need to be doing to help local charities understand how other charities make a success of things. I can’t promise her Government time for a debate but I think this is ideally suited for a Backbench Business Debate, possibly in Westminster Hall, when that Committee is re-established.”
Please see Karen’s Facebook events page for details of the Charities Training Event on 31st January.
