Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley has welcomed the announcement of £13.4 million for a brand new unit in A&E at the Royal Stoke hospital this winter.
One of the government’s 5 priorities this year is to Cut Waiting Lists and the upgrades made here will mean patients get seen faster, freeing up hospital capacity. The Royal Stoke is one of 30 hospitals receiving a boost to help patients move out of A&E more quickly or to help more patients receive same day urgent and emergency care.
The brand new unit at the emergency department is to help ambulance transfers and assessments for surgery, freeing up an estimated 50 beds elsewhere in the hospital.
Karen said,
"This is fantastic news and I am delighted that the Royal Stoke has been selected as one of 30 to receive urgent and emergency care upgrades worth £13.4 million for a brand new unit at A&E.
"I have been lobbying Ministers, together with other North Staffordshire MPs regarding beds and capacity at the Royal Stoke and know that local residents will really welcome today’s announcement.”
