Karen's campaign was back in Alton and Farley this weekend. On Saturday she met local people in Alton. She and her supporters visited voters at home and discussed a wide range of issues of concern from fuel prices to voting.
Karen said afterwards:
"There are so many problems that the Labour government has failed to tackle and people want action. We talked about fuel duty and how Conservatives would considering bringing in a fuel duty stabiliser that would reduce duty as oil prices rise. We discussed immigration and our plans for a cap on numbers of immigrants while making sure we get the skills we need. Of course that's a completely different subject to asylum - the UK's been a great haven over centuries and we will maintain that. And reform of the voting system came up too. The people I spoke to seemed to think the change we need is to get rid of Gordon Brown not change the way we vote."
After a morning knocking on doors it was off to the Ramblers' Retreat in Dimmingsdale for lunch where Karen chatted to the staff about the ups and downs of the decline of the British pub under Labour. The Conservative party has been pushing the campaign to Save the Great British Pub.
Then it was on to Farley where an equally positive response was another boost to Karen as the campaign builds to Thursday's vote.
