Local MP, Karen Bradley was pleased to meet with representatives from the Save Leek Hospital Action Group.
During the meeting they discussed Karen’s survey, the results of which she will be sharing with Marcus Warnes from the CCG. The Action group have agreed, in turn, to pull together any documentation they have in the way of evidence and testimonials, if at all possible, to also submit to the CCG.
Karen mentioned that they really do need to find out as many cases as possible where people have been referred from Royal Stoke to care homes and then ended up back in the Royal Stoke as proof that the Assess to Discharge is not working. She is simply not getting firm cases passed through the constituency office despite the horror stories that are circulating.
This is especially important given the situation with Stadium Court and the damning CQC reports which will affect Staffordshire Moorlanders.
Karen will be writing to the Health Secretary, Marcus Warnes and UHNM to say it is imperative that beds be re-opened at Leek Moorlands over the winter spell as UHNM are struggling. It was also mentioned during the meeting that the Jackson ward at Haywood Hospital is due to re-open to cope with the overflow.
Karen said,
“It was a productive and useful meeting. I will continue to work together with the Action group and local NHS leadership to save the Leek Moorlands Hospital and to keep all the services under one roof.”
