Mark Francois, the Shadow Minister for Europe, took time out to support Karen's campaign in Staffordshire Moorlands on Tuesday. Karen and Mark visited the Kerrygold plant in Leek to see one of the area's biggest companies in action. Karen and Mark had a tour of the site and chatted to some of the 550 workers in the plant that supplies nearly a third of the UK's retail market. Karen said:
"It's great to be here at Kerrygold again. We should be proud in the Moorlands that companies will invest £30m in a new facility and it's the kind of environmentally friendly building I really welcome.
"We're also very lucky to have Mark with us today. Kerrygold has an important place in the UK and is a really familiar brand to us all. But as an Irish company it's an example of why we need to work with our European partners to create investment and jobs in the UK.
"Conservatives have very clear, strong policies on Europe to benefit our country and I hope to see Mark as a minister negotiating to get powers back for Britain if we win the election. "
Mark is fighting to be reelected for Rayleigh and Wickford where he has been the MP since 2001.
