It was lovely to spend Easter back home in the Moorlands with my family and speaking to local people, I know just how much everyone is looking forward to the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla which will take place in Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May.
Plans are being made across the country for a weekend of celebrations with Coronation Big Lunches, thousands of street parties, and The Big Help Out which will bring communities together over the special Bank Holiday Coronation weekend
There will be a Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on the Sunday and one of the highlights of the concert will be “Lighting up the Nation”, in which iconic locations across the UK will be lit up with projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations.
Everyone is invited to join in, on any day, whether that is by hosting a special street party, watching the Coronation ceremony or the concert on TV, or being involved in The Big Help Out on Monday May 8. In tribute to His Majesty The King’s lifetime of public service, The Big Help Out will encourage people to come out and support the causes that matter to them. Hundreds of activities are planned for the day by local community groups, organisations and charities.
It is going to be a festival of volunteering and I know from my very successful Community Volunteers Event that I hosted last year, that we are lucky to have so many fantastic volunteers here in the Moorlands who do so much for our local community.
Further details on how to get involved in the celebrations can be found on https://coronation.gov.uk/get-involved/
The Coronation is going to be an amazing moment in our history and will certainly be an event to remember.
