Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley chaired the Advanced Proteins Liaison Group meeting at Cheddleton Community Centre recently.
Karen said:
“It was great to finally be able to meet in person after having to meet online throughout Covid-19 restrictions. The meeting was a good opportunity to have an open conversation with all parties so that residents’ concerns could be raised and addressed.”
This is another in a series of meetings that Karen has chaired aiming to foster an open dialogue with Advanced Proteins and those affected by their operations. With residents, councillors, the Environment Agency, and representatives from Advanced Proteins all present, the meeting heard concerns related to Advanced Proteins’ operations and gave the company an opportunity to speak with the local community.
The complaints received by the Environment Agency concern odour coming from the site, many of which were made during the summer heatwave. Barney Williams, the Technical Director at Advanced Proteins, explained that the company is continuing to invest in state-of-the-art technologies that aim to mitigate unwanted odour produced by their operations.
Karen will chair another liaison meeting before the end of the year and will also visit the Advanced Proteins site.
