Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley was pleased to attend the COP26 Conference in Glasgow and take part in an event hosted by The House of Commons Environmental Audit and Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committees, and the House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee, to highlight the importance of legislatures worldwide in the scrutiny and delivery of national climate commitments and wider climate and nature policy.
Alongside the chairs of each committee — Rt Hon Philip Dunne MP, Darren Jones MP and Baroness Kate Parminter — leading parliamentarians from Africa and South and South-East Asia showcased the work their parliaments are doing to scrutinise environmental policy and ensuring that governments bring their populations with them on the journey to net zero.
Karen said,
"Many of you have contacted me with your concerns about climate change and I am pleased to be here in Glasgow at this important event. I attended an event earlier today which looked at how Parliaments across the world can scrutinise climate commitments."
