My column this week is all about hope and looking forward. Despite the increase in Omicron cases, I do hope that everyone in the Moorlands managed to have a good Christmas and New Year.
Parliament is now back and I am looking forward to being able to represent you on a whole range of issues that I know are important to you. I am hoping that in 2022 we will be able to restart my coach trips to Parliament and the school visits and that we will all, once more, be able to meet more in person rather than virtually.
Many events last year were cancelled and I am looking forward to the return of events in the Moorlands such as the Leek Show and many others.
In June we will celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, giving thanks to Her Majesty the Queen for 70 years of devoted service to the nation and to the Commonwealth.
The Platinum Jubilee is an opportunity for communities and people to come together in celebration, and I hope that as many Moorlanders as possible will participate in this landmark moment. Plans include The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) and the lighting of beacons across the UK on Thursday 2 June, a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 3 June, The Platinum Party at the Palace, a live BBC concert on Saturday 4 June and The Big Jubilee Lunch and Platinum Pageant on Sunday 5 June
The Big Jubilee Lunch is the perfect way to say thank you to the people and places that make our communities great with Thank You Day on Sunday 5 June. So, let’s all hope and look forward to these events and take to our streets, gardens and neighbourhoods to have fun.
