As we start the New Year, our thoughts naturally turn to what 2023 might bring for the Moorlands.
As your local Member of Parliament, I will continue to be a loud voice in Parliament and with the Government on issues that are important to you. Issues such as support for households to cope with rising energy costs, improving local transport, the future of Leek Moorlands Hospital, local health provision, funding for our schools and support for our more senior residents.
I receive many emails and letters every week and I have mentioned above just some of the many issues that I know are of concern to you. Many of you contact me about Government policy and it is always useful to know your views so that I can make sure that Ministers are aware of the strength of feeling on certain issues.
I also receive many requests for help and support with all sorts of cases from Council-related matters such as planning or potholes to many very sensitive, personal issues. Whilst I do not have any direct level of influence over decisions taken by our local councils, I am always happy to raise your concerns with them and/or contact other third parties including the Secretary of State and Ministers in Government departments.
Parliamentary protocol dictates that MPs can only correspond with their own constituents so I always ask people to provide their full address. I also have to ask for a completed consent form to comply with data protection rules.
Doing my best to help local people in Staffordshire Moorlands is the most important part of the job and it is really rewarding when I am able to help and make a difference. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing me at [email protected] if I can be of assistance.
