The King has been graciously pleased to signify His intention of conferring the following Honours upon the undermentioned:
Dames Commander of the Order of the British Empire
Rt Hon Karen Bradley MP; Member of Parliament for Staffordshire Moorlands, formerly was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. For public and political service.
Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley has been honoured with a Damehood for public and political service in the King’s New Year’s Honours.
Karen has been MP for the Staffordshire Moorlands since 2010 and has served under different Prime Ministers as a Government Whip, Minister in the Home Office, Culture Secretary and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
More recently as a backbench MP, Karen is Chair of the Procedure Committee and the British Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union representing the UK Parliament both at home and abroad. Karen also continues with her work on modern slavery and human trafficking and is a trustee of the Human Trafficking Foundation and the Arise Foundation.
Karen said,
“I am incredibly humbled to receive this Honour from the King. It is a real privilege to be a Member of Parliament and I went into politics to make a difference and be a loud voice for people in the place I love and call home.
“I am absolutely delighted to receive this Damehood, the Honour is for my family too and I would like to thank them for all their support over the years.”
