We have so many fantastic pubs in the Moorlands and this week, for my week 40’s Reason to Visit the Moorlands, I would like to highlight the Stafford Arms in Bagnall that has been at the centre of village life since the 16th Century.
Situated in front of the Village Green, the Stafford Arms is a great local pub that supports many Moorlands charities and groups. The pub is able to cater for functions up to 120 people and is often used for Parish Council meetings, community meetings, celebrations and a host of other activities. The pub hosts important gatherings such as the monthly Bagnall Action Group Walk, which happens on the 1st Saturday of every month – these kind of events really show how the Stafford Arms is an integral part of the Staffordshire Moorlands.
It really is a central part of the Bagnall village life and I was pleased to return only recently for a meeting with residents.
The Stafford Arms has been in the hands of the current guardians for the last 30 years and has evolved from a small liquor focused farmers pub to the award-winning food led operation it is today. The ethos of the pub is to use local produce where possible and to work with and employ local people and trades.
And finally, the Stafford Arms is open every day for lunch and dinner. The food is fantastic and looking at the menu, you are really spoilt for choice. There are also special menus for events such as Mother’s Day on March 10th.
I will posting about the Stafford Arms all week on my Year of Reasons Instagram and X so please do share your photos. Delicious food, fine wines and good ales and a really welcoming environment. A really good Reason to Visit the Moorlands.
