Moorlands MP, Dame Karen Bradley was delighted to join Sarah and Jodie from Biddulph Town Council at the ‘Lets Celebrate Towns’ event in Parliament recently.
Karen encouraged Biddulph Town Council to apply for the Let’s Celebrate Town showcase and was excited to hear that they had been shortlisted.
The aim of Let’s Celebrate Towns is to shine a spotlight on hundreds of towns across the UK that are helping businesses and communities to thrive. Biddulph was entered in the Infrastructure category with the criteria being:
‘Infrastructure connects residents and local businesses with each other and the services they need. We want to hear the innovative ways your town is promoting digital infrastructure and becoming more inclusive.’
Town Clerk Sarah Haydon said,
“I talked about the Gold award, our website and social media reach, Biddulph Works Together, our work within the Town Hall as a community hub, Business Breakfasts, Neighbourhood Plan and Neighbourhood Development Order, protection of green spaces, public realm improvements, 93 bus service, re-development of the Visitor Centre, health and wellbeing focus and the wide range of agencies we work with.”
Karen joined Sarah and Jodie at the event in the House of Lords where the winners were announced and commented,
“It was really lovely to celebrate Biddulph at this event with Sarah and Jodie. Although we didn’t win, huge congratulations to all concerned, you should all be so proud for being shortlisted.”
