Moorlands MP, Dame Karen Bradley welcomed another coach trip from the Moorlands to Parliament last week.
As there were votes at 5pm, Karen arranged for everyone to go into the Gallery to watch and knows from the feedback that everyone really enjoyed seeing this first-hand.
After a Question & Answer session, Karen started the tour in the famous Westminster Hall, where it is possible to see the plaque where the late Queen lay in state as well as those of other monarchs and important figures such as Winston Churchill. Karen also pointed out the Staffordshire connections and the famous steps where President Zelenskyy addressed Parliament.
Karen then proceeded to Central Lobby and into the Members’ Lobby to show everyone the famous statues and the door that Black Rod knocks on during the State Opening of Parliament. She took the group into one of the Voting Lobbies where they had the chance to see how MPs vote before going into the Chamber itself.
There are many interesting things to see in the Chamber such as the green benches, the Despatch box, the Speaker’s chair and the Petition bag amongst others.
Karen commented,
“I always enjoy welcoming local residents to Parliament and to be able to show them just what a very special place I am privileged to work in.”
With a certificate to commemorate the visit to Parliament, it was then back to the coach for the journey back to the Moorlands. Karen will be organising future coach trips so please do contact her Leek office if you are interested in coming along.
