Local MP, Dame Karen Bradley was delighted to attend her Investiture at Windsor Castle recently.
Karen was notified of her Damehood for public and political services in the King’s New Years Honours but the Investiture is the day when the person who has received the Honour receives their award in person from a Member of the Royal Family.
Karen attended the Investiture ceremony together with members of her family and received her Honour from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
Karen commented,
“I was incredibly humbled to attend the Investiture at Windsor Castle and receive this Honour from HRH The Princess Royal. It was such a special day and it was lovely to be there, surrounded by my family.
“It is a real privilege to be a Member of Parliament and I went into politics to make a difference and be a loud voice for people in the place I love and call home.”
Karen has been MP for the Staffordshire Moorlands since 2010 and has served under different Prime Ministers as a Government Whip, Minister in the Home Office, Culture Secretary and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. As a backbencher, Karen has served as Chair of the British Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Co-Chair of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly and during the 2019-2024 Parliament, she was Chair of the House of Commons Procedure Committee. In the current Parliament, Karen is honoured to have been given the role of Chair the Home Affairs Select Committee by her fellow MPs. Karen is involved in a number of All Party Parliamentary Groups, and is Co-Chair of the Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking All Party Parliamentary Group.
