As part of the commemoration of the anniversary of the start of World War I Karen has encouraged schools in Staffordshire Moorlands to get involved with local and national activities. The Meadows School in Leek took up Karen's invitation to display some of their wonderful commemorative medals in her office window. Karen said:
"I am really pleased and impressed that the Meadows school have taken such an interest in the commemoration. Their version of WW1 medals are fantastic and everyone will be able to see them as I am going to display them in my office in Leek through the summer. You can see more of them in the Nicholson Institute's excellent exhibition too.
"We should never forget the sacrifices so many men and women made and I know lots of schools in the Moorlands are studying the first world war to make sure they know about such an important part of all of our history."
Charlotte Stoddard, Trinity Mannion, Brandon Lucking, Megan Probyn, Josh Squires, Grant Leese, Jared Clarke and Chloe Rothwell came to meet Karen with their teachers and Hannah Barter (far left of picture) who is coordinating Leek's commemoration project.
