Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley has joined the new All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Peak District as Vice-Chair.
The APPG brings together Parliamentarians and conservationists to discuss and raise awareness of the Peak District and seek ways to improve the area. Sarah Fowler, Chief Executive of the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA), attended the inaugural meeting.
The APPG will put together a work programme to open discussion around the challenges facing the national park and the businesses and communities based in the area. The first evidence session of the APPG will investigate the impact of the coronavirus outbreak and the future of sustainable and accessible transport.
Karen commented:
“I am delighted to be a part of this new All-Party Parliamentary Group. The Peak District is such a very special area and we are lucky to have such fantastic countryside on our doorstep. I look forward to working together with other local MPs and Sarah Fowler to do what we can to support the area.”
Sarah Fowler, Chief Executive of the PDNPA, commented:
“Britain’s family of national parks cover ten per cent of England, conserving the landscape, beauty, and nature of our countryside. This has been a challenging year for the Peak District, but we are working hard to deliver for the local area. I am looking forward to working with this APPG to support green investment, outdoor activities, and the welfare of local businesses and communities.”
