Karen Bradley Helps Launch 11th Biddulph Festival

Saturday morning saw the start of the 11th Biddulph Festival and Karen Bradley joined the Mayor of Biddulph at the official launch. Town Crier John Robinson got the Festival off to a ringing - and rhyming - start before the Mayor formally launched things.

Karen Bradley was elected last week by her fellow MPs as a member of the Work and Pensions Select Committee. Karen will sit on the cross-party group of MPs that will scrutinise and analyse the work of the Department of Work and Pensions and investigate related policy areas.

Justice Is Done For Edmond Arapi

Karen Bradley welcomed the news today that Italian authorities have dropped their demand for Edmond Arapi to be extradited under a European Arrest Warrant. Mr Arapi was convicted in his absence of a murder in Genoa in 2004 when he was working in Leek and had not left the UK between 2000 and 2006.

Karen Bradley Campaigns For Fair Treatment for Staffordshire Schools

Karen is campaigning for fair treatment of denominational schools in Staffordshire as the County Council consults on possible changes to the funding for school transport. The Council proposes to remove the financial support for transport costs for pupils attending denominational schools - which in Staffordshire Moorlands largely means Catholic schools.

Karen Bradley Supports the Alton and Bradley Fete

After a busy week in Parliament, Karen was back in the Moorlands on Friday. After constituency surgeries in Biddulph and Werrington on Friday afternoon, she and her family spent a couple of enjoyable hours at the Alton and Bradley Fete on Saturday.

Karen Joins the Family Fun at Endon Well Dressing

Karen Bradley joined hundreds of visitors enjoying the Endon Well Dressing on Bank Holiday Monday. Karen said: "I always enjoy Endon's Well Dressing festival. The wells themselves were beautifully dressed and there was a real party atmosphere. It's such a friendly event too. "

Spring in Bloom in Hollinsclough

Karen Bradley enjoyed a visit to Hollinsclough's flower festival on Monday. She said: "It was a real pleasure to see such beautiful displays in the Methodist Chapel in Hollinsclough. There's a tremendous skill and artistry in creating such evocative images with flowers - it was lovely to see such a variety of colours.

Supporting The Arts in Staffordshire Moorlands

Karen's first engagement as MP for Staffordshire Moorlands was to join the enthusiastic audience at All Saints' Church in Leek on Friday 22nd May to hear the Piva band perform "Music and Manners" - Italian renaissance music played on a range of instruments and all in costume too.
